Scene 1: Linda’s Dream

Linda Chan is asleep. Two forces, good and evil, are in battle in her dream. The evil challenges Linda’s faith in the Lord, while the good asserts that Linda’s faith is great. The evil seems to have gained the upper hand at the beginning of the battle.

Scene 2: At the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts

The “Search for a Star” is going to be held at the Academy. Ms Lam, Linda’s teacher, urges her beloved student to enter the competition. Despite her best friend’s support, Linda is still annoyed by the nightmare she had the night before.

Peter, Ben, Crystal and Amber are chatting away about the competition that is going to be held. They are extremely excited to find that the talented scout, Elton Wong, will be judging the audition. All girls go crazy on hearing the good news. Elton arrives at the Academy before the day of the competition. He gives a short performance before meeting with Ms Lam and the competitors. Elton recommends the competition before being introduced to Peter and Linda, Ms Lam’s outstanding students. The loud cheers by Linda’s and Peter’s supporters have deeply impressed Elton.

Scene 3: Before the Lesson

The Angel is delighted to see Linda living a honourable life The Demon is jealous of this and it plots to destroy her faith and wonderful life. The two parties compromise on a test on Linda’s faith.

Linda is about to go for the lesson when Peter stops her. Their relationship has turned sour recently. Linda insists that a third party has entered into their relationship though Peter claims that it is merely a misunderstanding.

Scene 4: At Linda’s Home

Linda’s mum is waiting for her husband to come home so that they can go out to celebrate their wedding anniversary. Jenny, Linda’s sister, is doing homework, looking pale. Mr. Chan finally arrives when his wife is already too disappointed to go out. Linda’s mum blames her husband for being too career-minded and neglecting their family. Already suffering from the pressure of work, Mr. Chan quickly loses his temper and goes out again. Linda feels that her warm family is undergoing some adverse changes.

Scene 5: The Nightmare World

In the nightmare world, Linda sees Jane and Peter become winners of the audition; her father is losing a lot of money at a poker game and Jenny is lying in hospital for an operation!

Scene 6: The Audition

There comes the audition at last. First, Elton Wong gives a short performance to set the audition in motion. Jelly Jackson and Peter do their performances in turn, but when the MC announces “Linda Chan”, nobody shows up. Ms Lam urges Jane to take Linda’s place as a last resort. Finally, Peter and Jane become joint winners of the competition. They receive warm congratulations, yet Jane is ashamed of having taken away her friend’s prize.

Scene 7: After the Audition

Linda’s watch shows that it is about time for the competition to start. She finds it quite strange that the cleaner enters and starts sweeping the stage floor. To her great surprise, the cleaner tells her that the competition has already ended and that Jane has won. Her watch is one hour slow!

Scene 8: At Linda’s Home

Linda’s mum is puzzled about the notices of outstanding payment received lately when Linda enters, still in a daze. Jenny suddenly faints.

Jenny is immediately sent to hospital for an operation. Mr. Chan confesses that he has lost hundreds of thousand of dollars on the gambling table. Sadly, what Linda sees in her nightmare has happened in real life. She wonders why the Lord has heaped all these miseries on her.

Scene 9: In the Hospital

Linda is sad to see her sister lying on the bed. She wonders why the Lord has punished them for no reason at all. Jenny, though terribly ill, encourages her sister to hold firm to her belief in the Lord.

Mrs. Chan is finally reconciled with her husband as he promises to give up gambling.

Jane has been looking for Linda everywhere. She explains to Linda that her participation in the audition has merely been a coincidence and that Peter is faithful to her. All the doubts are then dispelled and they become good friends again.

Scene 10: The Day of the Talent Show

It is about show time. Everybody longs for it except Peter. He misses his girlfriend desperately. Peter embraces his lover as soon as she appears. They declare their love to each other in a duet which Elton highly appreciates. Peter then convinces Elton to let Linda perform in the show as well.

Scene 11: The Talent Show

Jane, Linda and Peter perform in the show. Each of them gives words of thanks at the end of the performance. Linda is overcome with emotion. She talks about the hardships she has got through and how all of them have strengthened her faith in the Lord. On the stage, she embraces her parents and sister amid deafening applause.
