THE NOVEL CHESS GAME

Shatin Pui Ying College will be staging its third original musical, “The Last Move”, after the last two productions, “The Comeback Kid” and “Soul for Sale”, symbolizing the establishment of a culture for arts within the school in recent years. The establishment of such a culture is not easy, but holding to it is even more difficult. And, in view of the last two magnificent productions (at secondary level), excelling ourselves is the hardest task.

However, Pui Ying people still strive for progress, leading to the production of “The Last Move”. Based on the most profound volume of the Bible, “The Book of Job”, the musical incorporated the idea of a chess game to highlight the theme—“The Last Move”, for the illustration of the relationship between the authority of God and the hardships and fulfilment of lives. The mixed artistic effects from songs, dances and dramas will vividly display theology on the stage while featuring Hebrews 10:33, “ Sometimes you were publicly exposed to insult and persecution…”

The world’s happenings are novelties like every new chess games. I believe “The Last Move” will be a milestone for us. May I extend my heartfelt thanks to the teachers and students of Shatin Pui Ying College for their efforts to set up the chessmen so that actors and the audience may join in the game, and gallop in the Kingdom of God to experience lives!
